This was my fourth cookery course at the school with Chef Jake. (I’m already booked in to 2 more courses next month) At a tender age of 61, I got into cooking late in life. I have dined out at some of the top restaurants in the country and I have developed a real appreciation of gastronomy and this has inspired me to have a go and gain some experience. On this course I have cooked and eaten mussels and pumpkin for the very first time and had little experience in cooking fish…like many others worried of either under or over cooking. The experience this course has provided has inspired confidence to explore further fish cookery, multi tasking and plating up flare. This isn’t like going back to school, it’s a very friendly and supportive environment mixed with demonstration and practical skill practice. Give it a go, you won’t regret it.

At long last I was able to attend the Dinner Parry Cookery Course at the Abinger Cookery Course and I was not disappointed. Lizzie greated me on arrival and I was joined on the couse led by Jake by two charming ladies who enhanced the whole experience. The menu was very interesting and I soon learnt the amount of work needed for even the smallest element of the meal. The facilities were exellent and enabled us all to produce restauarant quality meals which we sat and enjoyed together. No “left overs” to take home for sure! I would recommend this course if you would like to elevate your cooking skills and impress your guests when next you are allowed to entertain indoors. The other courses look very interesting and I hope to return one day to try one (or two) of these. Thank you for a most enjoyable day.
